Reflecting on 2024 & Looking Ahead to 2025
Share
As 2024 draws to a close, we find ourselves reflecting on a year filled with creativity, connection, and unwavering community support. This past year has been a vibrant celebration of queerness, resilience, and the power of handcraft items to bring people together. Each event, market, and crafted piece has been a thread in the colorful tapestry we are building together (yeah yeah we know corny joke), and we couldn’t be more grateful for every single one of you who has been part of this journey.
One of the most meaningful moments of 2024 was our participation in the first-ever Georgetown Pride. The joy and acceptance that filled the air that day were unforgettable, and it reminded us how important it is to carve out spaces where everyone can feel seen and celebrated. In November, we stood in solidarity during Trans Awareness Week, a time to honor and uplift our trans and non-binary family, reaffirming our commitment to fostering an inclusive, loving community. And as the year wrapped up, The Big Ole Queer Market and other small rainbow markets brought warmth and joy to our hearts as we shared emotional support alpacas and countless laughs with so many of you.
As we step into 2025, the future feels uncertain. We hope for brighter days ahead, but regardless of what lies in store, Queer Crafters will continue to show up. We will be here – crafting, creating, and standing firmly in the fight for LGBTQIA+ rights. Making crafts in this community has always been about more than just the items we make; it’s about holding space, offering support, and standing strong together.
We invite you to stay connected with us as the new year unfolds. Our Events Page will keep you updated on where we’ll be, and we can’t wait to see familiar faces and meet new ones at markets, fairs, and Pride events in 2025. If you haven’t already, follow us on Instagram, Facebook and Bluesky for behind-the-scenes updates and to keep the queer crafting energy alive all year long.
Thank you for being part of this incredible community. Your support, love, and enthusiasm are what keep us going. Here’s to another year of crafting joy, celebrating queerness, and continuing to build a future where we all belong.
With love and pride,
Em & Jenn
